Clo and the Trike

August 24, 2009

This past week I got out the tricycle for Clo to try. Up until now she has been too short. This time her legs just reach the pedals and she can push them enough to get going.

Riding Along

Yesterday evening she and I went out to the drive way with our bikes to ride together. She rode a little, but ended up pushing her trike around a lot. So I got off mine and snapped some pictures.

Then she decided nothing interesting was going on and went back to sleep.

Playing in the Tub

August 3, 2009

On Thursday the girls were being silly in the tub. I gave them some “fun soap,” a foamy soap that comes in various colors, and they were putting it on their faces like clowns.

Church Cookout

July 27, 2009

This past Saturday we went to a cook-out hosted by Emmanuel’s interim pastor’s parents. They have a house down by the Intercoastal Waterway. A thunderstorm had just passed through the area earlier in the afternoon, so it was windier than usual, but the sky was clear and the air was warm. Almost perfect for an afternoon on the water.

Unfortunately I left the backpack with the swimsuits sitting on the floor in the living room at home, so we weren’t able to get in the water. But we did have fun on the boats. Mo went for a long ride in the water way with the Pastor’s daughter and some other young ladies. While she was out on the water, Zuni and I got in one of the tandem kayaks and paddled down the inner channel. We all had a great time and worked up an appetite for the burgers that were grilling while we were out.

After eating, the girls played fetch with one of the more furrier guests. Laramie (I think that’s how it’s spelled) was a black lab just out of puppy-hood, and full of energy. He enjoyed chasing the tennis ball, and had been diving in the water after another toy earlier. Clo enjoyed tossing the ball and would yell, “go boy,” every time she threw it.

Mo and her friend wanted to go out in a kayak, but there wasn’t an opportunity to take them out. But they worked something out anyway.

Father’s Day

June 23, 2009

From Zuni:

For [jModule's] Father’s day we had a very low key type of day. We all attended church together and that evening we took a stroll at Wrightsville Beach. It was so nice & the girls thoroughly enjoyed it. We did not take our suits, but wished we had once we got there. The water was so calm & it was high tide.

I love the picture of Clo close-up with how the sunlight is hitting her face. And Mo — the picture says it all — she was having a BLAST!

Take care! Come enjoy the beach for those of you that live inland!!

Friend Cat

June 8, 2009

At the house across the street lives a friendly cat. Clo calls her “our friend cat,” and both girls like to go visit her. We normally do that by walking down the side street beside the house. The cat is usually in the back yard or by the garage and she nows comes out as soon as she sees us. She has gotten to where she will lie down and let the girls rub her tummy.

Every once in a while she’ll follow us home, but she knows about our dog and doesn’t come further into our yard than the end of the drive way.

Ninth Wedding Anniversary

June 3, 2009

Zuni and I celebrated 9 years of being married today. As far as celebrations go it was simple but reminiscent of the days when we were dating. We took some fast food and had a picnic at the beach and then walked up to the inlet between Wrightsville Beach and Figure Eight Island.

This picture reminded Zuni of a song by Sixpence None the Richer, with the line “you and the moon are a beautiful sight to me…”

You and the Moon

Close to the inlet there were nesting grounds for shorebirds. As we got close a couple of them took off and appeared to be buzzing us, flying close as if to warn us to stay away. So we stayed close to where the waves came up.

On the way back we spotted a sand sculpture. Zuni said it must be a lobster, but I thought it looked more like a crawfish.

Crawfish?

This week MD got her costume for the spring dance recital. Zuni to some pictures of her posing out by the azalea bushes.

Christmas 2008

January 6, 2009

We had a Christmas party at my brother’s house on the 23rd. Then went up to my parents house for Christmas Eve. Then came back to town on Christmas to spend time with Zuni’s family and have a Christmas dinner.

Once the Christmas decorations were done at our house — around December 1st — we started taking pictures around the tree, hoping to get one we could send out in the Christmas cards.

Then the weekend before Christmas we went up to Jacksonville to bake cookies and help decorate my Grandfather’s house. The two girls got to help with hanging ornaments. CE enjoyed it a lot — though she tended to hang a bunch of ornaments on a single branch, which is a lot like my siblings and I did when we were young.

Christmas Eve was celebrated at my Grandfather’s house as is the tradition. We got there around midday so I would have time to play a World War 2 game with my Dad and brothers, and also give the girls time to visit with their Aunts who were in town for Christmas.

That evening we enjoyed the usual fare of Christmas treats. My little nephew was also enthused about eating the cookies — though it looks like his Dad was eating more than sharing!
